INCLUDES FREE PLACES SPECIAL OFFER

Course updated to give latest on Universal Credit roll-out and Personal Independence Payments

Valid for IRRV CPD Points

In the current challenging environment and with the significant challenges ahead given the welfare reform agenda, IRRV Scotland has had many requests to provide a training day on income maximisation, aimed at an audience of staff who manage or work in benefits and/or revenues administration.

This course was first run in 2013 and was extremely well-received by delegates.

It gave attendees the ability to identify potential benefit entitlement across a wide range of circumstances and showed how becoming eligible to claim a benefit can have positive knock-on effects for other forms of assistance.

The course will

  • Provide clear examples of where benefit is frequently underclaimed
  • Examine the key issues for carers, disabled people and older people
  • Discuss simple and clear methods to ensure income maximisation
  • Crucially, the course has been further updated to give the latest information on Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments and how they may impact upon income maximisation.

Course Leader

Bill McCormack is the Manager of Welfare Rights in Dumfries and has worked in the advice field for over 19 years, training volunteers and staff all over the UK in benefit changes and income maximisation techniques.

Bill will offer guidance on benefit maximisation and what to look out for to enable attendees recognise when a customer’s situation is not right and, therefore, how to help maximise the income of the customers attendees are working with. Key areas discussed will be recognising ways of increasing household income, swapping benefits and assisting customers to claim additional benefits to enable others to be awarded.

Case studies will be used throughout the training.
