Course background

In partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, IRRV Scotland is running these one day events in central Scotland on two dates - 13th and 14th of April 2016 - at the Leapark Hotel, Grangemouth.

FERIS

The Fraud and Error Reduction Incentive Scheme (FERIS) was launched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 24 November 2014. As authorities know, FERIS offers financial rewards to local authorities who further tackle Fraud and Error (F&E) in their Housing Benefit caseload.

A new FERIS scheme and the beginning of a new FERIS year

This workshop will be invaluable for Benefit Managers, Team Leaders and other relevant staff.

With the FERIS Maintenance Fund applications, received, processed and paid DWP will discuss the refined FERIS scheme for 2016/17, including:

  • the introduction of more and lower threshold incentive payment trigger points
  • arrangements for adjusting baselines to reflect changing caseload
  • an introduction to the Caseload Management Indicator (CMI)
  • CMI impact on thresholds.

DWP will also reflect on the first year of FERIS and in particular:

  • consequent challenges around increasing HB overpayment debt
  • the process and timing of any end of FERIS year adjustments
  • plans to formally evaluate FERIS in the summer.

Performance Development Team - With recent changes to the team in Scotland, DWP will also provide an update on the current team, its priorities and its plans to support and engage with Scottish LAs.

John Giblin will facilitate the event. John will share his direct experience in helping a number of Scottish Councils achieve FERIS incentive rewards for exceeding threshold.

Due to their huge popularity in previous workshops, John will again facilitate syndicate and group sessions to ensure that you get the optimal exchange of knowledge and ideas, from each other.

The day will begin with coffee and registration at 9.30am and will conclude around 3.30pm-3.45pm.

The workshop represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £125 + VAT. This includes lunch, refreshments, and training materials.

As places are limited, early booking is recommended. The IRRV regrets that, under normal circumstances, delegate fees cannot be refunded. However, delegate substitutions may be made at no cost at any time prior to the Seminar, subject to these being notified to the Institute.

SPECIAL OFFER

Every fourth place from the same organisation booked for this workshop (and made in the same booking) is entirely free of charge. Please note that, due to the demand for places, this offer applies only to the workshops detailed in this brochure.
