Course background

This course will introduce you to the various personal insolvency processes available in Scotland.

Whether the debtor is a living individual or a sole trader/partnership, is choosing to enter insolvency or being forced into formal insolvency by a creditor, it will look at the impact; the effects of the procedures and the differences between them.

Specifically it will look at the impact of formal insolvency on local government claims and what you can expect from dealing with an Insolvency Practitioner in practice or where the debtor is seeking money advice.

Business DAS was introduced in December 2014, and this course will look at its key principles, how it differs to DAS for a living individual and what you need to know to decide whether to accept a Business DAS proposal.

The course is designed to be participative and to equip you with knowledge you can apply in your day-to-day role. It will be fully up to date for all legislative changes as at November 2016.
