Universal Credit - the local authority role : A key seminar from IRRV Scotland
IRRV Scotland is pleased to announce this major seminar, taking place on Thursday 27th June in Grangemouth, and being organised at the request of authorities and IRRV members across Scotland.
The advent of Universal Credit heralds the biggest change in welfare benefits delivery in a generation and its likely impact on service delivery in local authorities is hugely significant.

In addition to the latest information about the Universal Credit pathfinders, this seminar will look in detail at the management of the Housing Benefit service during the UC implementation process, the strategic role for local government under Universal Credit and other key issues for local government and for the delivery of assistance with housing costs.
With key speakers, this seminar is a must for all local authority key professionals.
The programme includes
- Keynote Address from the Department for Works and Pensions : Universal Credit – Progress on the delivery programme
- Universal Credit – the strategic role for local government – Allen Graham, Chief Executive, Rushcliffe Borough Council
- Universal Credit – the transitional working group – June Deans, Revenues and Benefits Manager, Glasgow City Council
- Managing your Housing Benefit Service during Universal Credit Implementation – Lynn Brady, Revenues and Benefits Service Manager, Perth and Kinross Council
- Digital by Default – Key issues
- The Housing Element of Universal Credit v Housing Benefit – Peter Meehan, Benefits Adviser, Convention of Scottish Local Authorities
- The Demonstration Projects : a case study – Paula Doherty, Principal Benefit Officer, Dumfries and Galloway Council
- Will direct payments work? – Lessons from the pilots – Dominic Cain, Assistant Director (Revenues and Benefits), London Borough of Southwark
The seminar will be chaired by Les Robertson, President of the IRRV Scottish Association
The seminar will be invaluable to all local authority practitioners, including Managers, Team Leaders and team members.
It will also be of great interest to key professionals in the third sector, housing organisations and for all others with an interest in this hugely important subject.
It represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £125 + VAT.
Every third delegate goes free
To encourage authorities to send a number of team members, every third delegate from the same authority comes entirely free of charge.
